1. General Rule About Examination Fee Refund

  • Examination or admission fees cannot be transferred to another examination or future session.
  • No refund is allowed simply because a candidate did not appear in the examination.
  • Refunds are granted only in cases specifically permitted under FBISE rules.

2. Cases Where Examination Fee Is Refundable

a. Short Attendance – Name Withdrawn Before Exam

If a candidate’s name is submitted by the institution but later withdrawn due to short attendance:

  • Withdrawal must be made at least 30 days before the examination
  • 90% of the deposited fee will be refunded
  • 10% service charges will be deducted

b. Candidate Declared Ineligible

If a candidate:

  • Submits the examination form
  • Pays the required fee
  • Is later declared ineligible to appear

Then:

  • The admission form is rejected
  • 90% of the examination fee is refunded

c. Excess Fee Paid

If an institution or candidate pays more than the required amount, whether as:

  • Admission fee
  • Late fee
  • Or both

The excess amount deposited in the Board’s account is refundable after verification.

d. Fee Paid but Admission Form Not Submitted

If:

  • Admission or examination fee is paid
  • But the admission form is not submitted
  • And the candidate does not appear in the examination

Then:

  • 90% of the deposited fee will be refunded

e. Passed Due to Recounting or Result Correction

If a candidate is declared pass after:

  • Recounting of marks
  • Correction in result
  • Even if roll number had already been issued

Then:

  • 90% of the examination fee is refundable

f. Death of Candidate Before Examination

In the unfortunate event that a candidate passes away before appearing in the examination:

  • 100% of the fee is refunded
  • The refund is paid immediately to the legal heirs
  • No service charges are deducted

3. Time Limit for Claiming Refund

  • Any refund claim must be submitted within one year of fee deposition
  • Claims submitted after one year are not entertained
  • For private candidates, refunds are issued in the name of:
    • Parents
    • Guardian
    • Or the candidate (as applicable)

4. Other Refundable Situations

Refunds are also allowed in the following cases:

  • Fee deposited erroneously in the FBISE account
  • Services not utilized by the depositor
  • Any discrepancy proven on the part of the Board
    • In such cases, no service charges are deducted
  • Admission fee paid but:
    • Examination starts
    • Roll number slip is not issued

5. Service Charges on Refunds

  • 10% service charges are deducted in most refund cases
  • Service charges are not deducted in:
    • Death of candidate
    • Board’s own mistake or discrepancy

6. Minimum Refundable Amount

  • Any refundable amount less than Rs. 500 is not refunded
  • This rule applies regardless of the nature of the claim

7. Verification and Approval Process

  • All refund cases are processed after verification by:
    • Concerned section
    • Accounts Branch
  • The Secretary, FBISE is the final sanctioning authority for:
    • All examination fee refunds
    • Admission fee refunds

No refund is issued without proper documentation and official approval.

8. Important Notes for Students & Institutions

  • Always keep original fee challans and receipts
  • Apply for refund within the allowed time
  • Refund approval depends on rule compliance, not request alone
  • Refunds are subject to official scrutiny and record verification
